Born in Greenwich on September 19, 1929 to Andrew and Mary Foster Blackson, “RB,” was something of a local legend and well known as the expert “Harley Davidson” mechanic of the tri-state area.
RB, “Hawk” was a champion motorcycle racer and the first black Harley Davidson Sportster Championship winner in 1968.
RB was an avid skier and a member of the River Hills Ski Club in Shelburne VT. Bob skied in Austria, France, Park City, Lake Louise, Canada and points in between, winning numerous competitions in downhill and giant slalom in the 65 and over category.

He was a hard worker working at many local companies such as the Greenwich Coal Company, Arnold’s bakery, Yale and Town, Ransome Motorcycles , and the Greenwich Police Department’s Silver Shield among others.
Not only was Robert an accomplished jazz pianist, flutist, and alto sax player playing with several bands in the local area, but he was also an accomplished Latin dancer, traveling often to NYC with his wife, Mercedes to hit the Latin clubs and dance floors where they won several dance competitions.
Robert was a supporter of the 1960’s civil rights movement and participated in the 1963 March on Washington with Dr. Martin Luther King. RB never let race deter him and served as an example and inspiration to younger generations. Bob was a body building enthusiast, hitting the gym three times a week until well into his late 70’s. Robert was also an excellent skeet shooter.
Robert was a kind man, well liked and respected by everyone he met. He was a devoted father and a loving husband and will be greatly missed. Getting Ready For the Season……just add snow!

It was a successful work weekend with a significant scrubbing and cleaning of the interior of the club. Leaf raking, wood splitting and stacking along with securing the outside deck for safe usage this winter. Minor painting was performed but no outdoor exterior painting due to the weather over the work weekend.

CV Oil completed the furnace replacement last week, so we should be nice and warm this winter!
